This blog was set up primarily for the purposes of educating marketing professionals on the importance of corporate blogging and corporate social media. With social media, and the internet in general, taking up a larger and larger portions of consumer’s lives (particularly in the younger demographics), companies need to learn how to properly market through these channels or risk falling behind the times. While traditional marketing still has a place, marketing online gives corporations the opportunity to do something that was previously near-impossible – a chance to build a community around their brand that goes beyond brand recognition and casual customer loyalty.
As a long time marketing consultant, this is my platform to preach to the world. My goal is threefold:
- The Why – I want to explain why it’s so important for corporations to be active online
- The Where – Help companies understand where on the web they should be directing their efforts
- The How – Educate marketers and corporate professionals on the best (and worst) practices when dealing with online marketing
I basically started this blog as a way to combat the frustration I feel towards the ‘traditional’ marketing community. There are SO many companies with marketing departments out there who pay absolutely no attention to the web. In my opinion, the ability to successfully execute online marketing strategies will be the cornerstone of business in the 21st century. The companies that can do it will thrive, and the companies that can’t will fade into obscurity. My goal is to help you understand why marketing on the web will be essential to the success of your company.
